YIKES! Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. I don’t know what it is, but I just can’t seem to keep up with any holidays. Every year I tell myself I’ll do better next year and every year I’m freaking out.
We don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day. For most of our time together we’d trash talk the “holiday” and just treat it like any other day. But we’ve come to find out that, if approached with the right attitude and frame of mind, Valentine’s Day can stand for a lot more than blood diamonds, heart-shaped boxes of GMO chocolates, and waste-of-resources stuffed teddy bears. We can choose to make it a day to show a little more love. Real love.
In our house real love shows up as healthy food and quality time together. And while I’m still not sure of the details of how that will look tomorrow, I’m looking at the following for inspiration.
I’ve yet to meet someone who doesn’t like these Sunflower Butter Cups. The best part is, they come together in a jiffy!
I think this Raw, Vegan Chocolote Fudge might just make an appearance tomorrow.
Or maybe some Chocolate Cherry Fudge Brownies are in order?
I’m still jonesing over these Turkish Coffee Brownies…
Whatever you decide, make a batch of these Effin Thin Mints too… You can never have too many and in the rare event that you do, they freeze really well.
Pair those tasty treats with some of my favorite love songs.
Lovesong, by The Cure. Classic and obvious.
Unravel, by Bjork. This one’s another classic for me, even though she talks about being apart.
Beautiful Mind, by 3MGs. One of our favorite songs ever. Part of our wedding playlist. We didn’t have a traditional wedding, but you bet your ass we had a playlist.
A nice song explaining what love is and isn’t.
Naive Melody by 2Mex. Another family favorite.
And another great one from 2Mex. One of our all time favorites.
You’re So Cool by Luckyiam. Because you’re so cool.
Much love to all of you!
