I probably mention this every single time I write, but I eat chocolate every day. This could be a real problem if I ate things like Snickers, but magically, it’s the opposite of a problem with this recipe. That’s right… cause this chocolate is made up of superfoods that build you up in the best of ways.
I’d been wanting to experiment with cacao butter for a long time, but could never bring myself to fork over the dollas. The bag pictured above costs about $20 at Whole Foods… But I discovered that it’s totally worth it because it’ll make a megaton of super-fancy chocolate (and even lotions, if you’re so inclined)!
All you gotta do to make these is melt the cacao butter in a double boiler (I just use a glass bowl set over a simmering pot), add the remaining ingredients and mix. The mixture gets poured into molds and that’s it! Place them in the fridge to set and they’re ready to go!
The only downside to this combination is that they melt rather quickly. Don’t expect to travel with them if you live in the hot desert like we do. Instead, use them as a pick-me-up before you head out to see your favorite hip hop show. The cacao powder and maca will help boost and sustain your energy levels so you’re not yawning like crazy while you wait for your peeps to get on stage.
Raw Chocolate & Maca Cups
1/4 cup melted cacao butter
1/4 cup raw cacao powder
1 tablespoon maca powder
1 tablespoon agave nectar
Melt the cacao butter using a double boiler. Whisk in the cacao powder, maca powder and agave nectar until smooth. Pour into lined molds and keep in the fridge until ready to eat.
