Chocolate, Matcha & Fresh Mint Smoothie

This smoothie tastes like the opposite of something you’d get from Jamba Juice. This is important because I don’t want you to expect something super sweet that’s gonna overload your taste buds. It’s not like that.

This smoothie is the perfect treat for those of us who are conscious about sugar. I’ve never counted calories or fat grams, but I most definitely stay aware of how much sugar I’m taking in. This smoothie is sweetened with two dates, which is a whopping 27 grams! So yeah, there’s my sugar allowance for the day. But at least dates have fiber, are easy to digest, provide a good dose of vitamins A and K, as well as magnesium among a bunch of other minerals. Compare this with a small serving of Jamba Juice’s Matcha Green Tea Blast, which carries 57 grams of refined sugar in the form of frozen yogurt and sorbet.

I prefer to keep it real!

Some of you may be surprised to see half an avocado as an ingredient, but don’t trip. Avocados, aside from being the bomb, add a creaminess that you can’t really taste, while providing a great dose of healthy fats.

I could (and often do) eat avocados errday. I also LOVE me some matcha tea and have it errday too!

So quit that overly processed sugary business and start making your own cool refreshing drink.

Chocolate, Matcha & Fresh Mint Smoothie

Ingredients:

2 Medjool dates, pitted
1/2 avocado, peel removed
5 fresh mint leaves
1 tablespoon raw cacao powder
scant tablespoon matcha green tea powder
7 drops pure peppermint extract
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
2 cups ice

Method:

Place everything except the ice into a blender and process until smooth. Add the ice and process again until smooth.
